Vote for America’s Best Young Entrepreneurs (a Reminder)
Lesley Silverthorn designs solar powered lights and cell phone chargers for individuals living off the grid. Alex White is selling bands a tool to get more out of their social media marketing. Tyler Johnson recruits outdoorsy types to build hiking trails in national parks without vehicles or power tools. These are a few of the founders we profiled in our seventh annual roundup of America’s standout entrepreneurs age 25 and under.
In case you missed them when we first posted the 25 profiles, I’m plugging the package again: you can flip through them now and vote for the business you feel holds the most promise. The voting wraps up Oct. 20. We’ll announce the top five readers’ picks on Oct. 27. The rest of the package–stories on the rise of mentorship programs for entrepreneurs, tips on evaluating investors, and more–is available here.
You can also catch more recent fare from the Small Business channel and the print magazine about other young business founders worth watching: a profile about a 28-year-old who is turning exhaust gas into electricity with an elegant thermoelectric technology, a conversation with the 32-year-old co-founder of a $ 385 million residential solar power installer (I’ll add the link when it’s live later today), and a timely commentary urging policymakers to take note of the untapped talent that could juice the economy.
