I grew up in an entrepreneurial home. My father and mother ran our family supper club called Van Abel’s of Hollandtown for 57 years. They created a legacy and impact that I can only dream of. I started my entrepreneurial dream shortly after graduating from college. I opened a mini golf course in Appleton Wisconsin named Badger Sports Park and eventually grew that into 2 regional family entertainment centers in Appleton and Madison. We sold the Madison location to a regional hospital at a profit of over $1.5M. Badger Sports Park just celebrated its’ 30th anniversary in 2023 and we own and operate that today.
In 2002, I and my siblings took over our family restaurant. We added catering and grew the top line of the business by 400%. My greatest take away from watching my mother and father was how little time and money they had. That was a driving force for me as I grew my businesses that could run with or without me and we had to make money! I was gifted the book ‘Traction’ a few years back and immediately fell in love with the power and simplicity of EOS. We started to run EOS in our own companies and it has provided us even more free time and cash flow.
