The Simple Tool For Transforming Negative Experiences Into Positive Growth

When something negative happens, we tend to see it as a disappointment or an obstacle. But with the right mindset, you’ll see all of your challenges as opportunities for growth. In this episode, Strategic Coach® co-founder Dan Sullivan and EOS® Worldwide’s Kelly Knight and Mark O’Donnell discuss the Coach thinking tool that allows you to transform any negative experience into a positive one.

Here’s some of what you’ll learn in this episode:

  • How The Experience Transformer® thinking tool works.
  • What to focus on in the moment when you have a negative experience.
  • The importance of taking responsibility for what happens to you.
  • The theft that led Dan to creating The Experience Transformer.
  • The key to transforming any negative experience.
  • The improved experience Mark created when he first used The Experience Transformer.
  • The mindset that results in a growing level of teamwork and a growing company.
  • What Dan sees as his real role at Coach.

Show Notes:

You can view negative results as a form of market research.

Setbacks you encounter on your entrepreneurial journey can be used to your entrepreneurial advantage.

When something really negative happens, you have a great deal of energy, but it’s the wrong kind of energy.

The energy you get from a negative experience will be gone after a day.

You can’t repair the past, but you can create a new future.

You can apply The Experience Transformer as much to your personal life as to your entrepreneurial life.

Strategic Coach tools and EOS tools are complementary.

You don’t have control over the world. But you can choose to have control over your response to what happens.

Being in control means that you’re managing what exists right now. Being in charge means that you’re creating a new, higher future for your team.

Your team takes their cues from you.

The key to being a great coach is that your greatest pleasure is in other people’s success.

Your brain hangs on to any experience where you didn’t get the lesson. And the moment you get the lesson, there’s no more pain.
