THE GREATEST TEAMS HAVE COACHES

You will never know or remember the names of the teams and athletes who were talented, worked really hard, but had no plan. Coincidentally, it’s time to be thinking about your business’s plan for “next year.” (The ‘idea’ in your head doesn’t count as a plan.)

The best teams and athletes in the world have coaches. Every single Olympic athlete or team that stands on a podium to receive the cheers, the accolades, and the medals can point to a coach who helped them “get there.”

Can a world class athlete create their own plan? Sure. But the plan will be better…WAY better… if developed with an experienced coach.

Together, they plan and schedule a training/practice regimen. The coach helps them FOCUS on the most important stuff. The coach gives the athlete/team feedback, helps them with their ‘form,’ shares best practices, manages their diet, leverages their strengths and shores-up their blind spots. The coach pushes them to improve continuously.

All in preparation for the competition. It’s about executing really well and winning.

Can we not then apply that model to business leadership teams? Couldn’t even the best run businesses with the best leadership teams benefit from having a relationship with a business coach?

Some leadership teams are in trouble. Some just want to get better. I’ve never met a leadership team that couldn’t get better.
