“So, you’re a business coach?”
Ever since I became an EOS Implementer, I get this question all the time. The answer? Not exactly, but kind of! Most people have a tendency to lump coaches, consultants, and EOS Implementers all into the same category. And it’s true that we do all work to help businesses grow! But why do I call myself an EOS Implementer and not a business coach or consultant? It’s because as an EOS Implementer, I use the Entrepreneurial Operating System’s holistic system, practical tools, and timeless concepts to help you get MORE from your business.
My Personal Experience
Personally, I started off as a business consultant. Then I quickly realized that I did not GWC (Get it, Want it, Capacity to do it) this role. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t stop teaching people the tools so that they were empowered to grow and break through the ceiling on their own.
So, I made the switch to being a business coach instead, but while this was a much better fit as I was able to guide clients along the way and teach them tools that they could use to help their business, there was still something missing for me. I wanted to provide a better experience for my clients, and as I worked on my own business and struggled to get real results, I came across EOS.
With proven processes, tools, and systems, it was similar to what I was already doing for my clients, but in one easy-to-use, complete and proven system. After implementing it into my own business and seeing firsthand the traction that it brings, and seeing the over 10,000 businesses operating on it successfully, I KNEW I needed to get trained and become a Professional EOS Implementer myself so that I can provide its proven business operating system to my clients.
So how are Business Coaches and EOS Implementers Different?
At the end of the day, while we can call EOS Implementers a business coach, having lived in both worlds I know that there are a couple of key differences between the two approaches.
A business coach often focuses on a key area of a business – helping grow individuals, supporting HR needs, or technological needs. Nobody is an expert in everything, yet all of these things are critical for a business to reach the next level. Bringing in an expert in an area where you need help can be an extremely valuable asset.
As an EOS Implementer though, my core focus is to help entrepreneurial leadership teams get more from their business by providing a complete proven business operating system with simple tools that help leaders get better at three things we call Vision, Traction, and Healthy. This means helping the business grow in all areas of business or what we call the Six Key Components of a successful business. (Vision, People, Data, Issues, Process, and Traction) In the end, I arm them with the tools and knowledge they need to be successful independently, getting out of their way and letting them run their own business.
Often though, EOS and business coaches go hand in hand. In fact, EOS has a strong relationship with Dan Sullivan’s Strategic Coach—the tools and resources they provide are invaluable to us. And on the flip side, Strategic Coach also leverages EOS! They have an EOS Implementer and run their business on EOS.
