Coming out of school term I have been helping my daughter plan and prepare for next year’s rowing season.
In the pursuit of success, it’s easy to get caught up in the allure of victory, the end goal, the shining moment in the spotlight when you stand on the rowing pontoon, in front of many schools and their parents and receive an award. But I reminded her not to forget the unsung hero of achievement – preparation. 🛠
Think of it like this: ambition sets the destination, but it’s the meticulous preparation that fuels the journey. It’s the countless hours of honing your rowing technique, the early mornings and the late nights perfecting your stroke, building your partnerships ( she is racing in a double), and the relentless commitment to improvement that truly propels us forward.
Whether you’re an entrepreneur, a professional, or my daughter striving for a gold medal in her next regatta, remember that success is not just a result; it’s a process. The will to prepare involves embracing challenges, learning from setbacks, and continuously adapting. It’s about staying committed to the grind even when the finish line seems distant.
For a fourteen year old there have been tears from tiredness, frustration and learning new techniques to make you fast enough. All under a layer of anxiety that your ranking in the rowing squad will drop, I have reminded her that this is all part of the preparation for success.
So, let’s celebrate the grit, determination, and resilience that preparation demands, true champions win every day, not just on the podium.
To my daughter, enjoy the grind and the satisfaction that everyday you’re making the sacrifice to be the best person you can be. When the time comes go for gold, because you’ve already won the game of life.
