For as long as I can remember, I’ve had this inner fire and desire to create, build, and invent. The desire turned into a reality when one of my early patents helped launch a business. Two other founders and I grew that business from $0 to $10M in about 3 years.
I also started a non-profit around that same time. We provided engineering services to developing communities. My goal as a leader is always to build an organization that outlasts me. I haven’t always succeeded in doing so, but I’m thrilled that 20 years later this non-profit is bigger and stronger than I ever imagined.
From there, I climbed the corporate ladder, eventually becoming responsible for $200M a year in sales, but I missed the entrepreneurial spirit I felt when I was younger … so left the corporate world to run a small 50-person company.
The owner and I worked closely during that time to turn his vision into a reality, but I learned a lot of hard lessons. We did a lot of great work, but I also had to relearn how different the corporate world is from the small business one. That’s when I learned about EOS, and it changed everything.
