Neil Hetherington, CEO of Daily Bread Food Bank, shares his inspiring journey of scaling Canada’s largest food bank to ensure people don’t go hungry.
Neil’s journey with Daily Bread Food Bank started in 2020 when the city of Toronto announced a 2-week shutdown because of the COVID-19 pandemic. At that moment, Neil made the commitment that no matter how many people needed to visit the food bank, they’d be there for them.
Little did he know that he would have to quickly scale operations while helping the team balance the stress that comes with the job.
[13:20] “It becomes about reducing the stressors involved in decision-making because the mission is clear. It’s literally the reason why you’re coming to work every day to make this impossible feat happen.”
Neil and David’s candid stories offer valuable insights into the similarities between running non-profit and for-profit operations and clearly illustrate how EOS® provides a perfect framework for non-profits to do more with less.
The conversation highlights the importance of understanding mission-critical items to run an effective organization and why it’s so important to have the right people in the right seats working towards the same mission.
Neil’s story is a testament to the power of structure in helping companies transform the lives of their stakeholders and a clear reminder that there is an opportunity for people in any field to spread justice.
