Business is a Sack Race

I have helped all sorts of companies implement EOS. Construction companies, software companies, wealth management companies, wine distributors, and more. When I ruminate on what is common among these clients – one aphorism comes to mind – business is a sack race.

What I mean is that any organization can only move as fast as it’s slowest member. Makes sense right? And yet, what I see over and over is that many business leaders have difficulty removing, or reassigning, a slow runner.

Not being a member of a particular team, executive or otherwise, doesn’t mean that an individual isn’t a significant contributor to the success of the company. Quite the opposite is true. By operating in their unique ability (as Dan Sullivan says) each person is the happiest and most productive they can be. What more could you ask of them? What more would you want for them?

So what are you waiting for – make the personnel changes that you have to make and have been putting off – telling yourself that you can’t afford to because . . . fill in your own recurring justification.

Come on. Set a deadline. Do it.

Gino Wickman says it best in this 93 second video. If you don’t see the video below – you can find it here on YouTube.
