AN INTRODUCTION TO THE EOS® MODEL
The EOS Model® provides a visual illustration of the Six Key Components™ of any business that must be managed and strengthened to be a great business. This model applies to big and small businesses alike, in any industry. Kicking off our newest series, we’ll explore each main component, starting with:
VISION
The first key component of your business – of ANY business – is the Vision Component™. Simply put, this is getting everyone in your organization 100% on the same page with where you are going and how you plan to get there.
The first discipline of Vision is something we call the Eight Questions:
- What are your Core Values?
- What is your Core Focus™?
- What is your 10-Year Target™?
- What is your Marketing Strategy?
- What is your 3-Year Picture™?
- What is your 1-Year Plan?
- What are your Quarterly Rocks?
- What is your Issues List?
These Eight Questions combine in a two-page document called the Vision/Traction Organizer™ (or V/TO™). It’s a very powerful tool that will help you crystalize the Vision for your organization.
The second discipline of the Vision Component is called Shared By All (or SBA). You need to share with everyone on the team your Vision and plan and get them to internalize it, understand it, and want to be part of it.
You can effectively communicate the company vision in three events:
- Have a company kickoff meeting and unveil your clearly defined vision (the V/TO™)
- Have a short State-of-the-Union meeting every 90 days using the following agenda:
- Where you’ve been
- Where you are
- Where you are going
- Conduct a complete review of the V/TO™ each quarter
Using these tools together, that is strengthening you VISION Component™- getting you to 100% strong.
